I have an urgent opening as Sybase DBA
Location – NJ
Need recent financial industry exp.
*Main Function*
Sybase Server Database Administrator working with the backoffice
application ESM.
The DBA will be dedicated to this application to assist to improve
performance of the database and replication by hardware/software
upgrades and performance and tuning.
currently database is 12.5.x on Solaris.
*Main Duties*

Technical Skillset : Sybase ASE 12.5 x 15 x., Sybase Replication server
12.x
MSSQL 2008
The candidate should be experienced on both Sybase ASE 12.5.x/RepServer 12.x
and SQLServer both from the infrastructure and application
performance/tuning points of view.
The DBA candidate will be dedicated to a single application group and will
be mainly be responsible for :
-Migrating large Sybase Server ASE 12.5.x to newer hardware
-Setup new Sybase Replication server cluster on Linux and move
existing replication to new servers
-Working with application team to do performance and tuning at the
dataserver and application levels on ASE in preparation for a migration to
SQL Server
-Work with application team on migration of Sybase databases to
SQLServer
-Use database migration tools for both data and code conversion
-Work with application team in tuning migrated MSSQL database
-Performance and tuning of Sybase databases
-Build and configure MSSQL servers in a clustered environment (MSSQL
Clustering experience a must)
-Provide off-hour escalation for application team
-Other database related work for application team
Knowledge of unix scripting, autosys, HPOpenView Service Center, EMC,
iwatch, and VCS helpful.
Preferably the candidate has financial industry experience and at least 5
years of Sybase/MSSQL production support DBA work.
