*Job Description:
*Knowledge of Cognos is a driver here. I would de-emphasize the Hyperion
knowledge requirement as most of the reports the candidate will be working
with have already been converted to Cognos. This is a business side role and
will interface between the Underwriting and Actuarial Teams and IT regarding
the Atlas EDW project. This candidate does not have to be an insurance
expert but must be familiar with the business jargon related to policy,
claims, premium, coverages, etc. High probability of extension through 2012
for the right candidate. The softer skills ... Communication (written,
spoken) and general professional/leadership/negotiation/positive influence
skills will be important here as well.
Formulate logical statements of business requirements, research and evaluate
alternative solutions and recommend the most efficient and cost effective
solution for the systems design
Analyzes and defines business requirements and develops system
specifications to solve business problems
Advise and consult on the implementation of systems business requirements;
develop documentation and support the lifecycle with business knowledge
through implementation
Provide business use case expertise to systems, review and refine system use
cases based on business use cases, and perform gap and workflow analysis
*Required Technical Skills *
· Knowledge of Cognos query reporting tool.
· Knowledge of Hyperion query reporting tool.
· Thorough understanding of Access DB including, DB setup, ad-hoc queries,
and report development.
· Thorough understanding of Excel and specifically Pivot table generation.
· Ability to work on analytics reporting, perform data analysis.
*Industry/Business Skills:*
· General knowledge business terminology and financial concepts.
· Moderate knowledge of insurance and insurance terminology.
· Analysis of Data and System flows.
· Quick learner and self-motivated professional.
