*Responsibilities:- *
The Database Administrator will design, create, implement, and maintain
Database solutions. The Database Administrator must possesses a highly
developed understanding and expertise of the following:
*Expectations:- *
Knowledge of a diverse set of Database technologies to include, Database
Management System backup and recovery, TSM, Database performance tuning, SQL
analysis and tuning, Data Modeling, Data Security and Data Quality
Assurance.
SME for most, if not all, Database technology utilized by the corporate and
field end users.
Regarded as a Database support expert and understands the many user
environments which would be supported.
An advanced knowledge and understanding of emerging Database technology.
The Database Administrator requires limited supervision, can reliably manage
the entire Database technology lifecycle independently and will consistently
demonstrated the ability to provide exceptional customer service.
The individual is highly competent in building quality into a product, is
able to provide exceptional technical support, and is able to coordinate
effectively with an outsourced development team and/or outside technology
vendor.
*Qualifications:- *
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field and at least five
years of system management experience within a specific technology.
*Minimum of 7 years* experience with *Oracle 9, 10G, 11G and RAC *in
addition to *Microsoft SQL Database Management System 2005. *
*Experience* with MS SQL database administration on Unix (AIX preferred)
platform.
Understanding of current technologies and best practices in the information
technology industry.
Strong analytical/problem solving skills.
Ability to manage and meet deadlines.
Good interpersonal skills, with ability to work across functional lines, and
at many levels.
Strong verbal, presentation and written communication skills.
Ability to work on assigned tasks independently and assesses and executes
with minimal direction.
Must be self motivated, punctual, and resourceful.
Expert in Database backup and recovery best practices
Expert in Database Tuning and Performance
SQL Tuning Expert
Expert in *Unix (AIX) Shell and PERL Scripting *
Expert in *Data Quality and Security *
Experience with o*n call 24 x 7 production pager rotation duties *
Experience with disaster recovery and planning
Experience with Managing Microsoft software versions, installations,
upgrades and patch installations
Familiarity with Client connectivity variants (OCI, ODBC, JDBC
Comprehensive knowledge of various Microsoft Database design techniques,
including:
*Oracle RAC*
*MS 2008 Clusters*
Replication
Data Guard
Partitioning
Experience with *SQL Server Database Management System* *(SQL Server 2000
and 2005).*
