Current environment: Cognos Version: 8.4 SQL Server Version: 2008 Client is in the final stages of converting their financial reporting from Crystal to Cognos. They have built a Data Warehouse in SQL Server to store the monthly extracts from our Oracle transactional database. The Cognos reports are running against this Data Warehouse. There are approximately 180 Cognos reports that the Financial Services group uses to publish the month-end, quarter-end and year-end numbers. They plan to go live with Cognos environment with the January month-end reports. The Client would like to perform a review of the Cognos/SQL/ETL environment and reports to increase efficiency and accuracy of the final reports. For example: a number of database indexes have been created to optimize processes or resolve problems but we're not sure which are needed or which additional indexes would be beneficial. Also, looking at ways to set up the environment or queries so that the SQL generated by Cognos could be more efficient. Goal is to get a senior Cognos/SQL resource person here to help us resolve these types of issues but we don't know the extent of the effort. To that end they would like to perform an assessment of the current environment to target the best areas for improvement and to create a plan and estimate for resolution. Duties: Perform a review of the Cognos/SQL/ETL environment and reports to increase efficiency and accuracy of the final reports.?
