Position : Storage Systems Administrator Location : Irvine, CA Duration : 1 year contract
Storage Systems Administrator This position’s general requirements/responsibilities/duties include but not limited to: 4+ yrs experience with minimum of 2 years administrating and troubleshooting in a NetBackup 6.5 environment Must have administrated NetBackup in large environments Must be fluent in the NetBackup CLI and troubleshooting debug logs Strong scripting skills and be able to write NetBackup operational and administrative scripts Strong experience with NetBackup in a SAN environment and SSO on UNIX/ Linux/Windows platforms Have broad and deep experience configuring backup storage hardware including tape libraries, tape drives, VTL, and disk storage units within NetBackup Experience on de-duplication storages devices using NetBackup Experience adding and decommissioning media servers in NetBackup 6.x Experience configuring NetBackup for VMware Consolidated Backups Must have strong Windows 2000/2003/2008 client support experience Knowledge of Kernel and network services are highly desirable Must be highly skilled and proficient in problem solving and able to follow a systematic troubleshooting approach Diagnose and analyze system and storage related issues and recommend appropriate solutions based on knowledge of the appropriate systems and systems software. Provide application support and communicate periodically with users on systems status, including system changes, problems, enhancements, and potential impacts. Support enterprise Storage Area Networks (SAN), Network Attached Storage (NAS), and Tape Backup/Restore technology in a mission critical environment. Support UNIX and Wintel admins day to day and team with data center operations, production support and escalation teams. Perform 1st, 2nd & 3rd level 24x7 production support on storage and tape backup environments. Support EMC, HDS, or similar high-end and mid-range SAN Arrays including LUN allocation/masking, performance, capacity management and remote replication. Knowledge of McData and Brocade SAN Directors/Switches zoning. Excellent communication skills in working with technical and non technical people and the ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships among all levels of an organization A service oriented approach, with the ability to focus on and deliver assigned tasks in a timely manner Ability to work effectively in a team based environment and a demonstrated willingness to support team on all levels to get the job done Require minimum support or supervision and is able to solve most issues and/or challenges independently Key technology skills preferred: Symantec OpsCenter 7.x Perl/Korn/Shell scripting Key non-technical skills that should be possessed Project planning using MS Project Inter and intra team interaction Time and priority management Written and oral communication skills Technology presentation skills This position will focus on the NetBackup support.
