Title : Database Architect
Location : Boston, MA

Description :

 The Database Architect/Developer will be responsible for assessment, design
and development of the current and new SQL Server database architecture and
processes with the purpose of identifying inefficiencies, gaps and issues.  The
Database Architect/Developer will also be responsible for recommending
short and long term solutions to address inefficiencies, gaps and issues.  The
Database Architect/Developer will collaborate with Infrastructure
architects, Database and System administrators, IT application development
teams, business users and sponsors, and IT operations staff to understand
the business and technology evolving needs involved in the creation,
implementation, and on-going support of business systems within the
Massachusetts Department of Transportation.  The responsibility includes
keeping data aligned as the business evolves.  Collaborates with the data
stewards to ensure policies, definitions, rules reflect attributes and performs
data integrity and quality audits.

*Mandatory Requirements:*

   - Proven experience (5+ years) as a data architect
   - Experience with Data standardization including development of data
   dictionaries, metadata repositories.
   - Experience in planning enterprise-wide information systems
   architectures.
   - Implements data models and database designs for relational databases.
   - Source Data Mapping and archiving.
   - Maps logical data models to physical data models.
   - Responsible for ETL Design and Development.
   - Designs, develops, and manipulates BI Databases, Data Stores, Data
   Marts, Data Warehouse(s) in conjunction with Applications development
   projects.
   - Experience in writing code for database access, modifications, and
   constructions including stored procedures.
   - Monitors and troubleshoots database and application environments.
   - Monitors ongoing projects with status reports to management.
   - Learn business areas direct flow; and how it affects surrounding
   systems and operational areas.
   - Programming with SQL and DTS/SSIS packages, and proven experience in
   design of Data Warehouses, Cubes and Reports.
   - Experience in SQL Server 2000, 2005 and 2008, including the Database
   Engine, Analysis Services, Reporting Services, and Integration Services.

  *Desirable Skills :*

   - Proven knowledge of Business Intelligence Database Architecture best
   practices and the application of policies and procedures through database
   design experience and/or certification.
   - Knowledge of translating business information management needs into
   Business Intelligence solutions.
   - Data warehousing design understanding.
   - Knowledge of data mapping and of data mapping techniques and concepts.
   - Knowledge of architecture and flow charting tools, such as ERWin.
   - Knowledge of analysis and design techniques for BI Databases, SQL
   Server 2000/2005/2008, Server Applications, SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, DTS, MDX.
   - Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
   - Ability to prepare written proposals and deliver presentations.
   - Knowledge of project management.
