Job Title Visual Basic Developer Location: PA Duration: 3 weeks *Required:* *Project Overview* Product Screening Tool - The primary use of this application is to expedite the process of determining the cost estimate of the new product at an early screening stage. It provides Marketing, Finance and Operations Plant teams the ability to create and review the standard cost estimates as part of the new product approval process. It helps the Marketing team to evaluate the high level cost estimates and able to use it by Operation Plant Teams as a basis for creating a detailed cost for internally manufactured items (raw materials, packaging, direct labor, overhead and tolling costs). It also allows them to use an existing material item as reference and apply its cost information for estimating the cost of the new item based on chosen brand, pack type or weight configuration. All costing data were collected from SAP R3 and being transferred to SQL server via FTP and Control-M Jobs on a regular basis. Front-end application is a client-server application developed using Visual Basic for Application (VBA) in MS Excel. It has 20 spreadsheets, 65+ User forms, 5 VB standard modules and 8 VB class modules. Back-end database platform is SQL Server 2000. The database is consists of 62 tables, 175 stored procedures, 21 table views, 5 User Defined functions and 10 DTS packages and SQL jobs that runs weekly and every month-end. It has 3 cluster database servers running on different machines (e.g. development, staging and production servers) It is being utilized by 18 different departments and currently has 120 active users. Excellent written and verbal communication skills *Job Function* As sole application and database developer, day-to-day job involves any combination of following: 1. Responsible for application and database design of the entire application. 2. Regular front-end coding and debugging using Visual Basic and VBA Macros 3. Regular back-end coding using transact-SQL, stored procedures, triggers, table views, user defined functions, alteration of existing tables and insertion of new fields 4. Extensively use of SQL Server Enterprise Manager/ SQL Analyzer/DTS 5. Prepares SQL migration scripts needed by the Sys DBA to update the staging and production database server with the latest development changes. 6. Responsible for the maintenance and administration of the development database server. 7. Performs system and functionality tests before releasing a new version to Test and Production. 8. Releasing of new front-end version and updating of database server in production and ensure that its upgrade to the new release is successful. 9. Regular importing and exporting of data through MS Excel, MS Access, Text file, CSV file and SQL server tables. 10. Provides technical production/application support to all users. *Required Technical Skills* 1. Experienced in Visual Basic programming 2. Experienced in VBA Macro programming 3. Experienced in SQL Server programming and Database Administration 4. Experienced in MS Excel and MS Access built-in functions 5.
