Position: UNIX Sys Admin Location: Northbrook, IL Duration: 6 Month Unix/Linux admin position at the enterprise level, will be working in the operational level of IT (not physical deployment). Team consists of 6 other members. AIX and Redhat experience. Sun Solaris is a bonus, but main focus should be on the AIX / Redhat Unix / Linux exp. Needs to have at least three years of unix admin experience. Will be required to work night hours one out of every seven weeks. Please do not send people whose experience is focused on HP product this position is on the IBM app. JOB DESCRIPTION: Provides senior-level technical support for all requirements in the planning, coordination, and implementation of releases, upgrades, or changes to Unix operating system environment, transaction monitors, and the range of products and productivity tools that support the testing and production environments relating to Discover's Unix computing environment. Ensures stable performance for the UNIX environment through performance monitoring and tuning. Performs workload modeling, and prediction; ensures systems maintenance of UNIX and all its related systems; and provides senior-level support for the UNIX environment. Provide senior level technical support to database administrators, developers, and project managers. Instruct and help develop less-seasoned systems administrators and other technical staff when appropriate.
