Our company just recently decided upon Active Directory as the standard
for our strategic LDAP architectural needs. This decision was made by our
archictectural people after researching Gartner and META group papers,
and talking to META group analysts. No software was brought in house
and evaluated, nor was a comparative study performed. Unfortunately,
this is becoming the trend here, decision-making being done at a higher
level
w/o input from the people who have to make things work. With the increasing
pressure to get solutions out the door ASAP, they think there's little time
to
research and test alternatives.

How reliable and objective is the information provided by organizations
such as Gartner and META?? Are they biased towards certain companies or
technologies, etc. Comments, opinions?

Thanks,
Jeff T
