Yes, as you do with other fields: select long_field from table. However you
can't apply to it a char function as substr or rtrim, etc in a SQL. Although
there is a way to treat it with PL/SQL.

I strongly recommend you to use LOBs: CLOB or BLOB or even BFILE. And you
can manage them with dbms_lob.
