Back on the S.A.M.E method: A vendor presentation on SAME yesterday now had the online redo and archived redo separated onto separate logical volumes/separate phyisical drives (from the datafiles). 2 steps away from pure SAME toward OFA ... seems like a good solution. I guess it just depends upon how much you know your system's (and users) I/O, and how much you prefer to isolate batch processes onto their own disk/controllers/bus channels.
