The following command would work.
Alter database recover automatic
from '<archive destination>'
datafile '<full datafile path>' ;
In place of archive destination you
might need to specify the online redologfile
as well, if the current online logfiles are
not yet archived and some recovery information
is still lying in them.
Recently I had problems when I fired
"recover database" command (for the same error),
it just sat idle. Ultimately I had to give
above command.
