I'm going to be moving the tablespaces for one of our databases from raw to JFS, converting them from dictionary-managed to LMT at the same time. I've got six striped filesystems on a RS6000 box, each about 25GB, total about 150GB. They are 798x32MB partitions and span 6 disks/6 SCSI channels each. > is80002:/ >df -k /SF* > Filesystem 1024-blocks Free %Used Iused %Iused Mounted on > /dev/SF01_SMISP 26148864 25328076 4% 17 1% /SF01_SMISP > /dev/SF02_SMISP 26148864 25328076 4% 17 1% /SF02_SMISP > /dev/SF03_SMISP 26148864 25328076 4% 17 1% /SF03_SMISP > /dev/SF04_SMISP 26148864 25328076 4% 17 1% /SF04_SMISP > /dev/SF05_SMISP 26148864 25328076 4% 17 1% /SF05_SMISP > /dev/SF06_SMISP 26148864 25328076 4% 17 1% /SF06_SMISP > My question is: would it be best to distribute the datafiles across all these filesystems? E.G: Take a 8GB tablespace, distribute it in 2GB chunks across 4 of these filesystems?
