Hi,

I am using it in a DW. And the overhead isn't too noticeable. Take into
account that SMON wakes up every 3 hours for this feature. 

However there is a bug in 8.1.6 with GATHER STALE and GATHER EMPTY with the
argument of CASCADE=>TRUE. You may receive an PL/SQL error one of the 65XX
refering to max buffer reached or similar. It is solved on 8.1.7.
