We are in the process of migrating our databases from Oracle 8.1.6 to
Oracle 8.1.7 on the Compaq Tru64 UNIX platform with 5.0a OS. When we
bring one database (test instance) over to the 8.1.7 Oracle Home and
attempt to start the database we are receiving multiple I/O errors that
appear to go away when the disk_asynch_io init parameter is set to
false.

< Corrupt block relative dba: 0x00000001 (file 0, block 1)
< Errors in file /u03../SID/log/ora_1549075.trc:
< ORA-01110: data file 2: '/u03../SID/toolsSID_01.dbf'
< ORA-01115: IO error reading block from file 2 (block # 1)
< ORA-27063: skgfospo: number of bytes read/written is incorrect
< Additional information: -115516112
< Additional information: 8192

The above messages are received for each datafile including the
controlfiles
< ORA-00206: error in writing (block 3, # blocks 1) of controlfile
< ORA-00202: controlfile: '/u04/SID/controlSID_02.dbf'

I have submitted a TAR with Oracle. I was wondering if anyone on this
list is using this platform and can provide any information.

TIA for any help/advise.

Debbie
