Hi,
We are running application over oracle 815 on Compaq 64 Bit m/c with
Digital Unix. Here what we have observed is that the server is not
releasing the memory once occupied.
On server start the free memory available is 85%. This gradually
decreases as we fire some sql's. Each sql fired occupies extra 2-3% of
memory and does not releases it after completion. As a result after some
time the total free memory of server is exhausted. This memory is not
released even after shutting down the Oracle instance.
Concept says that oracle uses only the memory allocated to it in SGA
for all the queries. Then we are unable to understand why sql queries are
hogging the O/S memories.
