We are having problems with slow response time on Oracle 8.1.6 on an NT
server. The slow response time occurs even where are no users on the
server. Sometime the logon takes 30 seconds. I noticed the following sql
is being executed by the system quite a few times and does a lot of buffer
gets. Does anyone have any idea what could be slowing down the server and
why the sql is being executed?

SELECT SYNNAM
  , DBMS_JAVA.LONGNAME(SYNNAM)
  , DBMS_JAVA.LONGNAME(SYNTAB)
  , TABOWN
  , TABNODE
  , PUBLIC$
  , SYNOWN
  , SYNOWNID
FROM SYS.EXU8SYN
WHERE SYNOWNID != 0
ORDER BY SYNOWNID
  , SYNTIME
