We have several database ranging from ~400GB to over a terabyte. We back up to
tape using hp omniback (~70gb per tape). Takes anywhere from 4 to 12 hours,
depending upon the number of drives available at the time.

Any 64-bit *nix can handle it (hpux, tru64, etc). No real (reachable) outer size
limit (ok, it reachable, but you'd have to try damn hard :)
