Make an entry in your tnsnames.ora like the one below:

DBSID_LOOP = (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(PORT=1601)
                (HOST=127.0.0.1))(CONNECT_DATA=(SID=DBSID)))

Then create your db link with:  using 'DBSID_LOOP';

It should work, this is on HPUX, Oracle 7.3.4.
