Eric,

This is reminiscent of the cry 'The Mainframe is dead!'

While I'm not personally a Mainframe adherent, it is
indeed far from dead.

The same is true of Oracle Forms and PL/SQL.  They're a
long way from dead.  This has become more apparent after
the dotcom fallout.

Six months ago, being a Java programmer was the best position
you could be in.  Today it's # 3 and falling.  Just today I was speaking
with one of the principles ( or principal? I dunno ) of a local consulting
firm, and he mentioned that he's beginning to get requests for Forms
developers.  

The point being 'They have real work to do'.  Imagine that.  :)

I have nothing against Java and XML, I happen to like them.  

But they have a ways to go yet before they're anything but bleeding edge.
