With the advent of NAFTA, getting a job in the US, Canada and Mexico is
considerably easier. I had a job offer in Canada a few years ago which I
turned down. The regulatory process was as simple as showing up at the
border with a legitimate job offer from an Canadian employer. In this
case it was the Canadian government in Whitehorse. Everything was great
except that they paid in Canadian dollars and my debts are in US dollars -
bummer. I don't know if it is quite that simple getting into the US from
Canada, but the Canadians seemed to think so.
One of the oddities of their immigration laws is that my wife could not
work. However, she was free to start her own business.
