When he starts
smoking, he's ready for a promotion. By the way, why do good DBAs live only
around 45 years
on average (some are rumored to have lived the whole 55 years!!!)?

We have a new database cluster here that we are testing and are getting
ready to move into production. At the same time I am training a new DBA.
The lead Sys. Admin. figures I should have to pay to come to work because I
am enjoying my job to much. Every now and then I will remove a datafile, or
drop a tablespace, and walk over to the other DBA's desk and hand him the
Oracle Press Backup and Recover book. Then I point out how many millions of
dollars the fab is losing while he is recovering. I periodically update him
with that figure. I love my job.
