Try looking in the registry.

Since you're using oradim80 I take it you're using 8.0.x which I can't give
the exact answer for.

But, for 816 look at HKLM\software\orace\all_homes to find the home id
number for your home - say it is 5.

Then look at HKLM\software\orace\home5 and you will find a key named like
ora_sid_pfile and it will tell you the pfile used when the service was
created.

>From memory, 8.0.x might use a batch / command file located in the database
directory and that might specify the pfile.

Bruce

Thanks. I know those are the defaults, but when you create the Oracle
service on NT using oradim80, you can flag a specific pfile. This
information is obviously stored in the service as it is used each time the
service starts. Is there a way to find if the stored value is different from
the default? Or is this totally inaccessable??

8.1.7 should be in the \oracle\ora81\database directory
8.0.X should be in the \orant\database directory

I've got an easy one. I'm getting back to NT and I am trying to find what
parameter file was used when creating the Oracle service with oradim. I know
I can edit the setting to any init.ora I want, but isn't there some way to
see which one is currently used?
