About two weeks ago I got the attached message saying they've converted it from a mailing list to an OTN forum at <http://technet.oracle.com:89/cgi-bin/forumdisplay.cgi?action=topics&forum=Oracle+Replication&number=94> Seems kind of a shame to me, but I'm sure it has an upside. A new discussion forum has been created on Oracle Technology Network(OTN) for
Oracle Replication. This forum, available under the TECHNOLOGIES section of the
Oracle Techical Network Discussion Forums at http://otn.oracle.com/index.html and
directly accessible atthis location , is open to everyone for both posting and
viewing of topics related to Oracle Replication.Over the years, the REPSIG mailing list has been a useful resource for many
replication implementors. You are invited to continue to share your knowledge
and experience of the replication features with other developers and database
administrators through this new forum. Some of the advantages to using the new forum include:
1. Faster turnaround of message postings
As you know, the REPSIG mailing list is manually moderated on a
time-available basis. As a result, the forwards of the messages have
sometimes been delayed several days. Using the forum, the topic will
be posted without delay, enabling quicker response to questions.2. Searchable Message Archive
Topics will remain available online for an extended period. In addition,
searches can be performed for words in both the subject and message within
this discussion group. This will reduce the number of similar postings
that frequently occur in the mail list.3. Reduced mail traffic
Your personal mailbox will no longer be filled with REPSIG postings.4. Wider audience
The new forum is available to a wider audience. This will enable more
people to participate in the group and extend the knowledge pool. Please feel free to begin using the Oracle Replication discussion forum
immediately. The current REPSIG mailing list will be phased out over the
next 2 weeks in favor of this new forum. During the next 2 weeks, the
REPSIG moderator will cross-post topics from the REPSIG mailing list
to the Oracle Replication discussion forum. After May 11th, the REPSIG
mailing list will no longer accept mail and a message will be returned
indicating that the Oracle Replication discussion forum should be used.
