Hei Rachel.

I don't know whether you still remember me or not. Last time my x-company is
using oracle 6.x ,and I use to logto this oracle-list.after I resign and
jump over to a consulting firm doing informix developer.
Now I come back to Oracle, lucky I found a job where they are using Oracle 8i
and plan to upgrade to 9.

But as a developer ,because my intention is to move up to DBA . But I don't
have chance to learn , As you know DBA is for those people who is more
experience in Administration and more in Oracle DBA .I don't even got
chances to know more from there.

How can I get start to know more in Oracle ,as far as now I'm a oracle
developer using developer 2000, Designer , Form 4.5-> Form 6.X..

I have get a book from Oracle education , it is about Oracle DBA
administration. Can I start my DBA knowledger from that onward ??till that
I'm stuck already.

Is there anybook for a beginner to start he' DBA knowledger/experience?

p.s I have succesfull install Oracle 8i into my home pc to start my D.I.Y
experience.

Thank for your help

you can create the table in the database before the import with the size
parameters you want and then import with ignore=y to ignore errors. Note
that this will ignore ALL errors
