Hi Vishak
I think you should use this statement when you want to assign a transaction
to a specific Rollback Segment
(generally a BIG Rollback), because the transaction is HUGE (as you said in
you mail).
Remember that when you issue a commit or rollback you close the current
transaction and you should
issue "SET TRANSACTON USE ROLLBACK.." again in order to assign the following
transaction to the previous RS.
This is a possible approach, the other one is to use OPTIMAL setting in your
rollbacks and let the BIG transaction be assigned by Oracle to any of them.
When the TX has finished (not exactly when you issued the commit, but some
time after that) Oracle will SHRINK the rollback segment according to your
optimal setting.
