We are curently upgrading from 8.1.6 to 8.1.7. We have currently done it successfully on our test and development machines and are doing it on the production machine this weekend. We did not use the ODMA as we could use the manual process from our client machines. We have solaris 2.7 The steps we follow are - Install 8.1.7 software. - Backup database. - Init.ora change Job_queue_processes=0 - create symbolic links in 8.1.7/dbs to init.ora -copy password file to 8.1.7/dbs - system tablespace to have 75M free space - shutdown instance 8.1.6 - Modify oratab file entry to point to 8.1.7 - Upgrade DB set oracle env to 8.1.7 startup restrict spool to some log run u0801060.sql spool off shutdown immediate - startup normal - varify functioning of database Well sofar we have not had any problems HTH JOHNSON JOB __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
