Direct IO is the capacity to perform operations
without the data being passed through the Unix buffer
cache (it goes straight to/from the disks to the
Oracle buffer cache)
Quick IO is Veritas's simulation of raw datafiles - it
presents the file to Oracle as if it were raw.
