Paul here.

This is typically caused by a networking problem.
Was the user's session interrupted?
Do you have logging enabled on the client?

refer to  Note:1030488.6 Net8 Tracing.
refer to Note:1015065.102 ORA-01041, ORA-03114, ORA-07445: USING THRID PARTY
CONNECTION

gonna need Oracle+OS version info to do much else.

Problem Explanation:
  ====================

  Incompatability with the out of band breaks.

Solution: EDIT OR CREATE THE "SQLNET.ORA" FILE

  Solution Description:
  =====================

  Edit or create the "Sqlnet.ora" file.

  The file should be located or put in the directory:

  $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin or
  $ORACLE_HOME/net80/admin

  Insert the lesser known parameter:

  DISABLE_OOB = ON >>>This parameter disables the out of band breaks.

  This can be done on just the client or server or both.

hth,

Paul

We just got an oracle error ora-1041 on an operation. The oracle error text
is:

ora-1041: internal error. HOSTDEF extension does not exist.

In typical oracle clarity, the book says this:

Cause: The pointer to the HOSTDEF extension in HOSTDEF is null.

Can anyone give me a little more explanation on this?
