Hi All,
Maybe my lack of knowledge on NT, but... If you do not specify a pfile in
your startup routine it will use the init<SID>.ora in the default location
(ORACLE_HOME/database). If you do specify a pfile, there is your answer.
Somebody correctly pointed out that the init<SID>.ora in de default
directory often only contains a pointer to another file (on UNIX I use a
"link") , in which case you still know the pfile being used.

Please respond
to ORACLE-L
Couldn't you look at the name of the db in the pfile and compare it to the
sid in sqlplus?

Subject: PFILE location in NT
Hi all,
I have two parameter files in two different directories on the same
machine. Is there a way I can find out which parameter file is being
used by the database.
One way I tried was to make the changes in one file and see if it
takes effect when the database is restarted. but I have more than 52
machines and it will be time consuming to do the same for all machines
especially when these machines are on remote locations.
Thanks.
Shahid.
