Hi,

Query the v$version view. From outside issue a file
$ORACLE_HOME/bin/oracle, usually when it is a 64 bits
release it doesn't appear the number 64. However in a
32 bits, it does:

$ file oracle
oracle:         ELF 32-bit MSB executable SPARC
Version 1, dynamically linked, n
ot stripped
