Guys,

setting aside the almost certainly justifiable mirth/muse for a 
moment, all that means is that since they are using the computer lab 
here at the university, the "training company" doesn't have to pay 
for lab space and equipment. btw, the training company is also the 
guy that runs the local Oracle User Group. He is very energetic.

my guess is that the univ. computer science dept is partly
supporting this training as a public service of sorts. the 
current head of the computer science dept is a big Oracle/RDBMS
advocate. his undergrad degree was in physical education (UCLA 
football, then he went on to work for NASA in mainframe statistical 
modeling during the Apollo days), so maybe the "boot camp" thing had 
a certain nostalgic aura? I'll call and see if he has any new jokes
since I talked to him last.
