We have a client in Cleveland, Ohio that needs a Database Manager to join
its' staff.

This is a full time staff position so no sub-contractors or third parties

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The primary focus will be to establish a continuously available, fault
tolerant database environment that can support a growing self-service, internet 
and browser based application environment:
-Define the technical future direction of the client/server database
 environments specifically SQL Server 2000, and also UDB version 7.2 and
Oracle 8.1.
-Work closely with application teams with new or evolving skill sets.
-Establish relationships with vendors, contractors & industry experts to
 facilitate enhancements to products.
-Plan, direct and monitor information systems. Consult with and advise users.
-Ensure that data systems/databases are protected from unauthorized users.
-Establish and implement policies, procedures and stds. to ensure conformance
 with systems goals and procedures.
-Strategic and tactical planning.  
-Software systems programming activities.
-Systems process analysis and design, quality improvement and data management.
-Develop and maintain applications systems for functional/location areas.
-Conduct feasibility studies, time and cost estimates.
-Application systems analysis and programming activities.
-Review systems development project requests and related activities.
-Manage people and make personnel decisions. 
-Assign people to projects and direct activities.
-Responsibilities will span a broad range of activities including budgetary
 control.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
-8+ years of Information Services/Technology experience.
-Experience managing a staff of DBA's.
-Understanding or experience in DB2 version 6.
-Understanding or experience in 2 of these 3: Oracle, SQL Server, and UDB.
-Technical knowledge of systems programming applications.
-Experience in driving definition of a database environment where there is no
 internal expertise.
-Good at accessing each DBA's strengths & weaknesses, and nurturing them.
-Assess and hire appropriate skills, and prepare individual development
 plans.
-Improve knowledge through training, and mentoring.
-Define work for successful and repeatable application of the DBAs' skills.

-U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is also required.
