And I assure you, you are not alone. People who are likely to go for
newer operating systems are the ones who would also keep upgrading their
systems' hardware - so Microsoft's policy is going to raise more than
eyebrows...
As for Windows XP, the look and feel is just awesome - the look has been
definitely borrowed from Linux Desktops... the folder icons are exactly
the same...

Sell it on ebay or at a show, Just this year alone I had the following
equipment changed

Dual 700 -> Dual 1000
Dual 1000 -> Amd 1.4
Amd 1.4 -> Dual Amd 1.5
512Mb ram -> 1Gb ram
Gforce 2 -> Gforce 3
18Gb Cheetah + 9gb cheetah -> 128Mb writeback cache 100MHz raid with
2x18
Cheetah raid 0 + 2 9gb cheetah
21" ViewSonic -> 20" Sun flat plasma
JBL Pro Logic 5 + 8" Sub -> Klipsch 4.1
SB Live -> Santa Cruiz
4x4x16 CD-R -> 12x CD

If I remember, that is all I changed this year on my main machine. I
guess
I can be said to be obsessive.

Every two to three months, what do you do with all of the old hardware?
I
thought I was bad because I bought a new machine after a year, sheesh:)

I will be using Win2000 for some time because of that crap. My computer
gets upgraded every 2 -3 months.

If you buy the Server Version it does not have this limitation.

Has anyone heard of all the troubles that the new version of Microsoft
is
having getting released ??

One of the ugliest things I see is their new licensing scheme. They
make
sure you are using it only on a specific machine by having its
functionality
based on hardware items on your system. This configuration has to be
registered either by phone or by internet about a month after it is
installed or everything stops working. If you change something big,
like a
Network Card or cpu chip, your system will not boot because it thinks
you
have installed it on a different machine.

Anyone have options on the new XP ?
