Hi,

CF stands for ControlFIle Transaction. THis is generally acquired while
updating the controlfiles ,like  status changing of the tablespaces
online/offline/readonly/readwrite.

ANd excessive checkpints, log switches, dumping file headers, hot
backups are also cause CF waits.
