That is why there is 2 holes in the lid. You don't have to remove it to fill the cup.
Just dip it on the coffee vat and allow the air to escape through one of the holes.

About a year ago I got a free car-cupholder-sized insulated coffee
mug from Amazon.com. It has a quote from Albert Einstein on it:
"If at first the idea is not absurd,
then there is no hope for it."
The lid fit way too tight, and eventually as a result, the little
plastic tab that you use to pop the lid off busted off.
Now the lid, which was originally really annoying to try to get off,
is even harder.
