Hi,
You group your free space per tablespace, but total space per datafile.
Your temp tablespace has two datafiles so the free space is for both
datafiles en total space for each datafile
so to begin with:
in the subquerry of your FROM you have to group by datafile (in order to do
this you have to join into dba_data_files with the file_id) i.s.o
tablespace.

Hello all,
I have an interesting problem on hand. I am using the following query to
determine the free space in table space and corressponding data files:-
SELECT d.tablespace_name,d.file_name,
SUM(d.bytes)/1048576,
free_space/1048576,
extent_cnt,
free_space/sum(d.bytes)*100,
count(*)
FROM dba_tablespaces t,
dba_data_files d,
(SELECT tablespace_name f_tablespace_name,
SUM(bytes) free_space,
count(*) extent_cnt
FROM dba_free_space
GROUP BY tablespace_name )
WHERE t.tablespace_name = d.tablespace_name AND
f_tablespace_name(+) = t.tablespace_name
GROUP BY d.tablespace_name, d.file_name, free_space, extent_cnt
/
Running the above query gives me :-
TbsName Datafile FreeSpace Extents TotalSpace %FreeSpac
TEMP temp01.dbf 318.82 1275 313.83 101.59
RBS rbs01.dbf 134.74 388 543.35 24.79
TEMP temp02.dbf 318.82 1275 5.00 6376.56
USERS users01.dbf **** **** 274.31 ****
SYSTEM system01.dbf 37.74 19 175.00 21.56
Now my questions that I confused are :-
1. How come it is showing for TEMP tablespace, the Free space is more than
the total space( for temp01.dbf free space is 318.92 MB and total space is
313.82 MB)? This is illogical.
2. The %Free space for both the TEMP tablespace is showing as 101.59% and
6376.56%. How is this possible?
3. It is not that the query is wrong is it? If so please tell me where? But
for eg for SYSTEM and RBS tablespace, it is showing correctly.
4. For USERS tablespace, it does not show any data for freespace or for
extents or for the %free space, makes me wonder what is going on here?
Can you please explain the above phenomena is happening?
Thanks a ton.
rgds,
raja
