Kevin,
Our local newspaper has a column in it that lists volunteer opportunities
in it. Some of them are technical. We also have a non-profit
organization which coordinates volunteer activities. Your local chamber
of commerce should be able to put you in touch with such a local
organization.
Our city hall often advertises for technical assistance. Contact your
local hospital volunteer coordinator, local junior college, tech school, or
university. Local high school and even middle schools and elementary
schools are crying out for help.
Local churches often have volunteer opportunities that they are trying to
fulfill.
Check with the local United Way and Red Cross offices. They should be able
to put you in touch with other organizations.
Look in the yellow pages under volunteer organizations.
Hope these suggestions help.

ORACLE-L
Hi everyone,
I am looking to find a way to volunteer my time to assist non-profits or
similar organizations that need technical assistance or maybe be a
technical tutor or resource at a community center, etc. I knows this
sounds crazy but my early attempts to find these opportunities near my
local community have come up empty. Does anyone have any suggestions on
how they have gone about this or similar things.
Take care,
Kevin
