SHUTDOWN ABORT is one of the way to get rid of sgadef<ORACLE_SID>.dbf file 
and then startup....

Do you still have a sgadef<ORACLE_SID>.dbf  hanging around? Try stopping the
instance and moving/renaming this file. Oracle Note 18070.1 on Metalink may
also have a bit of useful information for you on this problem.
