Date is the name of the datatype.
It can be formatted in many different ways.
Like this, formatted into date and time.
(VIKING-SYSTEM)>select to_char(sysdate,'dd-mon-yyyy hh24:Mi:ss') from dual;
TO_CHAR(SYSDATE,'DD-
