thin-wide RAID 0 volume, 8 drives wide, 8K deep. (2 of these mirrored uses 16 drives) Stripe depth = 64K - for a multi_block_read_count = 8, db_block_size= 8192 - a FTS will grab 1 block off of each member in the stripe at a time.
thick-narrow RAID 1 volume, 2 drives, stripe depth 64K, a FTS will grab 8 blocks off of 1 drive at a time. The idea is, deeper, wider tends to improve throughput for fewer jobs.
