Eva,
RMAN,
though only applicable to Oracle 8 and higher, is a very useful tool. You can do
the following:
1. Detect corrupted blocks during
backup
2. Can
verify backup validity
3.
Perform Incremental Block level backup to reduce recovery
time
4.
With Recovery Catalog in place use can store backup scripts, automate backup,
etc, works with OS Medial Management Software.

Subject: RMAN - Useful or not?Hi Everyone,
I am investigating using RMAN for backup and recovery etc. What I would like to know is:
Have you found it useful? or is it much like the old Oracle 7.3 EBU (Enterprise Backup Utility) were most DBA's
created their own backup scripts and etc anyway?
I would really like to hear your ideas. Thanks
Denham
