Yeah.. I know I am late...just catching up. If you are still looking for some workaround...*TEMPORARY* workaround is to use DBMS_SNAPSHOT.SET_I_AM_A_REFRESH (TRUE) and then you can do DMLs. But beware....all replication triggers would be disabled when you set it to true. After you are done set it to false.
