Look at the LTRIM and RTRIM functions, and the new one (in 9i?) called TRIM. They do exactly what you are asking. For instance It says 1 John 2 Frederic 99 Jimmy in table one and I want the pl/sql code to delete the values in front of the names wheninserted into table two so in table two it would be: just : John Frederic Jimmy Thanks in advance Roland S -- Please see the official ORACLE-L FAQ: http://www.orafaq.com -- Author: INET: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fat City Network Services -- (858) 538-5051 FAX: (858) 538-5051 San Diego, California -- Public Internet access / Mailing Lists -------------------------------------------------------------------- To REMOVE yourself from this mailing list, send an E-Mail message to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (note EXACT spelling of 'ListGuru') and in the message BODY, include a line containing: UNSUB ORACLE-L (or the name of mailing list you want to be removed from).
