All,

Interesting comments regarding OS selection. Of course, this has been
covered in the past at great length.

Let me add my 2 cents.

NT is a very viable option if it is being administered by a competent NT
Admin who does not treat the box like a home desktop.

I have been working on NT boxes for two years now, and have seen the worst
and best it has to offer. The worst is when it is not respected as a true
operating system. The best is when it is managed carefully and with great
fore-thought.

I have not experienced *any* of the comments made in this thread - like
rebooting every so often. I have very stable, powerfull machines that are
being managed by the best NT admins I have every seen, and they are
performing very nicely, thank you.

In my opinion, they are a viable platform solution.

I guess that on Intel platform you don't have other choice than Linux and
Oracle fo Linux.

Database on NT = highway to hell and you cruise at high speed
