Patrice, SqlPlus uses the Bequeath protocol to access local databases if the "@" is omitted in the connect string. If the "@" is present (i.e. connect scott/tiger@db) then it uses Net8. See Note 118381.1 on Metalink. HTH Srini Chavali Oracle DBA Cummins Inc
