Alright Paul, Not too sure myself (as I said in my post). I know on VMS the bequeath listener is a job started using the BEQLSNR utility. After a bit of digging on Metalink, I found Note: 62142.1 that illustrates the bequeath connection quite well. Looks like it's a direct one-home one-server connection, where the app spawns it's own server-side process to connect to a db in the same oracle home. This connection is performed using Unix pipes. The listener spawns the server-side process for IPC connections, and these communicate using Unix Domain Sockets. Amazing what you can learn with a little digging.. ;-)
