Kevin,
The only step missing now is "Drop Tablespace {tablespace_name}";
You cannot delete one file from a multi-file tablespace.
Your only option is to either drop the tablespace or, if you still have data
that you need to keep in this tablespace, restore from backup, export the
data you wish to keep, drop and re-create the tablespace, and import the
data.

I attempted to bring a tablespace back on line but I have encountered a
problem.
I get an error message stating "Error changing tablespace statusORA-01113:
file 10 needs media recovery . . .
This datafile is not needed so I attempted to drop the datafile as follows:
startup mount
alter database datafile '/u02/oradata/MPDB/tie02.dbf' OFFLINE DROP;
shutdown normal
startup open;
The tablespace still cannot come back on-line. Am I missing a step?
