Ken,

If you are just re-creating the database with the same sid, then you do not
need to issue the "ORADIM -delete -sid" command. This command only
interfaces with the NT registry to either insert, modify or delete items in
the registry.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say " but doesn't seem like anyone else
uses this process.".

You are correct, in that Unix DBA's do not need to do this, as the NT
registry is specific to NT. Did you mean something else?

Hi,

There has been many questions and answers regarding this topic. I have used
oradim -sid -delete then os commands to delete datafiles. Then recreate the
db with scripts with no apparent problems. It has worked just fine, but
doesn't seem like anyone else uses this process. Is there a preferred
method to delete and recreate a database? Am I leaving myself open to other
problems using this process?

Thanks,

Ken Hitchcox
