Sam, If you want to understand the internals of Hot/cold backup/recovery (with case studies!) as well as the Database in general, this is an excellent book. If you are looking for extensive RMAN-only information, then you may be disappointed... I would certainly buy it! (already have the 7.3 as well as the 8.0 version)
